Oracle's place in cloud computing

CEO Larry Ellison is known for his past scorn of the term cloud computing. He has said it was just another hype term for technology that he felt companies like Oracle had provided for more than a decade with its on-demand services. Oracle's place in the cloud has changed over the years. It then examines how some companies have - and have not - placed database and applications in the cloud. Needless to say, security and liability are still big hindrances to Oracle shops placing workloads in the cloud. The guide also takes a detailed look at Exalogic, the integrated server appliance that Oracle calls a cloud-in-a-box but which many outsiders considered to just be a big, expensive, all-Oracle bundle of hardware and software.
